It's hard to believe that another year has begun!!
Here we are, in the middle of January, without snow or even frost. Just a series of mucky, gray, dismal days -
except in the studio!! The light is bright (with the help of Mr Edison), the colors even more so, and the smiling eager
faces lining my walls keep me inspired.
I have been preparing an entirely new body of work for a solo show at Margot's Gallery in Oxford, Michigan the month
of March. I have also submitted work for consideration for The Art Show at the Dog Show in Wichita, Kansas, and another
exhibition at Starkweather Gallery in Romeo, Michigan. I also plan on continuing my support of the Orion Art Center,
and sending new paintings to their All-Media Show in March. In addition, I am discussing an exhibition at
Tatum Studios in Petoskey, Michigan this summer. So you can see that there are great plans in store for all those smiling
faces that are gathering 'round inside the studio here.
Furthermore, I am booked with commissions through May of this year. While it is difficult for me to tell prospective
clients that they must wait several months for their portrait to begin, it is incredibly encouraging to hear their response
- that it will be worth it.
That said, here are a few of those faces that have come through this way.....
from left: "Greta," 18x24; "Charmed," 46x28; "Bruno," 12x14; far upper left: "Untitled,"
18x18.
If you think your pet has what it takes to star in his own canvas, please send me pictures. I am always looking
for new subject material, and inspiration for my next painting might just be curled up on your couch right now!!
I will continue teaching beginning painting courses through the Orion Art Center, with the next session starting up in
March. Please give them a call if you are interested in picking up a brush and having some fun - 248-693-4986.

The painting above, titled "Daybreak" (20x10), is a good example of what I have been studying - the relationship
between light and color and time of day. I have set some specific goals that will help me to measure my progress this
year - getting into two national exhibitions, for example - and plan on enrolling in classes and taking a workshop - all so
that I can continue to grow as an artist. I am confidant that you will see improvement with each finished piece, and
that the painting you choose to hang on your wall will be exemplary.
Meanwhile, stay warm and dry and let's hope the groundhog does NOT see his shadow!!
-Kimberly
PS Thanks to those of you who sent cards and notes over the holidays - I loved seeing updated pics of your dogs
and cats!!
